Pardew Takes The Positives

Charlton Athletic Manager Alan Pardew thought there were plenty of positives on Saturday even though the Championship favourites failed to grab all three points.

Charlton were held by a plucky Scunthorpe side who were playing their own cup final at The Valley.

Despite only drawing with the Iron, Alan Pardew still believes there was enough on show to see Charlton get back to The Premiership.

‘I thought we were good offensively,’ said Pardew

‘The down side for us was when we scored,’ ‘We got a little bit sloppy for that five or six minutes that followed.
‘Our best player of the match, Yassin Moutaouakil, gave away a corner, and then Marcus Bent was probably celebrating getting that monkey off his back of getting his 100th goal, and let his man go basically. He’s held his hands up in the dressing room and so he should.

‘I warned before the game kicked off that this is a new team, we need to learn how to win, and we didn’t do very well in those six or seven minutes. But overall I thought there were a lot of positives.’

Pardew’s troop`s next head to Swindon Town (tomorrow) in the Carling Cup and Pardew will be hoping that we stick away more of our chances.
