Pardew Ready To Splash The Cash?

Alan Pardew looks set to spend some of Charlton’s transfer kitty after Luke Young left for Middlesbrough earlier today.

The Addicks coffers have hardly been touched so far this summer and Darren Bent’s £16.5m transfer to Spurs has certainly steadied the ship after relegation.

Young is the latest player to exit and he has added a further £2.5m to the bank account. Last week Dennis Rommedahl joined Ajax and the club received £680,000 in return for the Danish flanker.

Pardew has so far brought wisely and the biggest outlay to date was the £2m deal to Crewe for Luke Varney which could rise to £2.5m depending on certain clauses.

With money available to Pardew he should now bring in the last one or two faces to finalise the squad for our Championship battle. He needs to get it right as anything but promotion will be seen as a failure by the fans.

Hayden Mullins is a long term target for Pard’s and he has been chasing his former player all summer. The club are hoping to sign Mullins for £1.5m and this deal should go through next week. The Hammers have already identified his instant replacement in want away Newcastle man Kieron Dyer.

David Thompson has also held talks with the club and Pardew may sign the former Bolton man on a free. The player is without a club at present and he is hoping to sort out his future by the end of next week.

Another man set for Sparrows Lane is Izale McLeod. The MK Dons hit man has set his hopes on an offer from Charlton and he would cost an initial £1m with added clauses dependant on the player`s success.

With a little over 2 weeks left until the big kick off I`m expecting the final deals to be announced shortly.

Who else would you like us to bring in? What player could make all the difference as we chase our dream of a Premiership return?

Mullins, McLoed and Thompson would finish the side of lovely and i think we’d have enough in us to go up. A midfielder is a must now.

Would certainly add depth to the squad, Thompson’s a bit injury prone, but certainly need to add to midfield, jury’s out on whether we need McLeod, especially if Chris Dickson is to be given a chance?
