The Addicks’ 7 year stay in the top flight is at an end as a superb individual goal from Dimitar Berbatov and ex-Charlton youth product Jermaine Defoe condemned the side to Championship football next season. Boss Alan Pardew says though he is proud of the side and believes they have the makeup to bounce back at the first attempt.

    I really would have liked ‘the addicks’ to stay up, and I hope that the FA/football league finally do the right thing and ‘dock’ the cheating bubble blowing ‘clarets’ a suitable number of points.

    But I must admit to having a wry smile, in regards to ‘Pardew’… remember the lasagne saga? “What goes around comes around”!
