Pardew Happy With a Point

Despite dominating our match with Leicester for long periods on Saturday we could only manage a point, and even that might not have been gained but for a last minute equaliser.

Patrick McCarthy’s last gasp overhead kick earned us the point at least that we deserved against the Foxes to give us a 1-1 draw, something that Alan Pardew feels we worked hard for and was the least we deserved, he said: “We dug in and got something from the game – which I think we deserved.

“It is a point in difficult circumstances in what was a stop-start game on a difficult pitch in difficult conditions.

“To concede the goal when we looked really comfortable, it looked like being one of those horrible days that you get in the Championship.

“But we showed character and dug in and got a point in the end.”

The fact that we couldn’t make more of our domination at times was due largely to the fact that we were missing our technical and creative influences, according to Alan Pardew, he also said: “We missed our technical players. We had quite a lot of the ball but we couldn’t hurt them in the final third of the pitch.

“We missed the likes of Andy Reid and Svetoslav Todorov.”

We showed true character in this match, and although it is another draw we would have been happy with this before the match wouldn’t we.
