It is not just us that felt the Addicks win over Southampton on Saturday was vitally important, Alan Pardew has does too, and has hailed it one of his best ever victories.

After three defeats on the spin the Addicks went into the tough encounter with the Saints needing to get something, and after Jose Semedo was sent off it looked like we would have to hang on for a point but Chris Iwelumo’s injury time winner saw us come away with a 1-0 victory, and a victory that Alan Pardew puts in his top five all time best wins as he told ITV Sport: “Of all the matches in my managerial career this win has got to be in my top five.

“This was a massive win for us after the three defeats. To go down to 10 men and then go and score the winner in front of your own fans in the last minute does not come any better than that.

“I felt we looked like a team today. The sending off knocked us back a bit but we gave a performance which will have done us a power of good.”

I felt it was a very good win, and a crucial win but it must have been even better than suspected if Alan Pardew ranks it in his all time top five managerial wins.
