Palace Man Signs For Charlton

|

The first signing of the 2019 January transfer window has been completed and it is Welsh midfielder Jonny Williams on a six-month deal.

Williams comes to us on a permanent deal after a 17-year stay at south London rivals Crystal Palace where a portion of his senior career was plagued by injuries. These injuries led to him being sent on loan numerous times to teams such as MK Dons, Nottingham Forest, Ipswitch and Saturday’s opponents Sunderland.

To be honest I’m very excited about this signing, I remember back when he was a regular for Palace and he really is a very talented player. Many of the Eagles fans were saying how good he was and how much of a contribution he can make towards the team. Lee Bowyer has obviously seen that and has taken this opportunity to have him in our team and with injuries the way they are right now it couldn’t have been better timing.

There is also a sign behind this transfer, a sign us Charlton fans have been waiting for, for a very long time and that is regarding the new owners. Let’s just think about this signing its a permanent deal and would Roland do something like this? I don’t think so. Which can only mean one thing the new owners are just around the corner. Not only this signing has made that clear, but Bowyer hopes to bring in one or two more early on and with Roland we would never have had the chance of signing three players in January and it looks like we can really hope for good things again. I’m over the moon with this signing and the things to come, after years of turmoil could we finally be on our way back?
