OFFICIAL: Charlton sign prolific striker with CASH!

|

It’s official Macaulay Bonne has signed for Charlton from Leyton Orient for around £200k, we have spent money for the first time in two summer transfer windows and this could be a sign of things to come and the way everything is changing at Charlton.

Bonne comes to us with a great record at Orient, he scored 49 goals in his last two seasons and he should link up great with Lyle Taylor. He has two caps for his national team Zimbabwe and now he makes a huge step up, those international caps will keep on coming for him after a 25-goal season in the National League.

Speaking with CAFC.co.uk our new striker gave his first interview as a Charlton player

“I’m delighted to be here now, it’s been something that’s been on the cards for a while now and so I’m delighted that it’s over the line. Seeing how they’ve had a young team for the past two seasons and they’ve managed to get where they have with the youth in there. I thought it was the best move for me to progress and become a better player.”

I have heard a few things about Bonne and that he has been scouted by Charlton for a while and this signing here was something that has been in the works for around two years since Steve Gallen has been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old.

I think it’s great that Taylor has now got someone who is really going to give him a run for his money in terms of being the best striker at the club, but with Taylor’s service and Bonne’s strike rate, we could be looking at two of the best goal scorers in this league.
