Charlton Athletic confirmed ahead of the closure of the summers’ transfer window tonight that Lee Novak had made a switch to Scunthorpe United.

The deal for the 28 year old came about following the arrival of Rangers attacker Joe Dodoo (which I’ll cover in a second).

Novak arrived at The Valley from Birmingham City on a free transfer back in the summer of 2016 and his times with saw him make 17 starting appearances with a further 20 showings from the bench and he returned three goals in that time.

It unfortunately hasn’t been that successful a spell but he has taken in three games this year with a return of one goal and one red card.

The deal with Scunthorpe is permanent and for an undisclosed fee and it’s far to say that injuries certainly didn’t help him when it came to getting himself going at the club.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Karl Robinson explained.

‘I`d like to put on record my thanks to Lee. He is an excellent professional and worked hard for me and the club from the moment I walked into the building. He was unlucky with injuries in his time here and his dedication cannot be faulted, as people will have seen most recently in the Norwich game. This, however, was a deal that was best for all involved. We wish him all the best for the future.’
