No News Yet On Takeover

Charlton Athletic are refusing to comment on talk of a £50million takeover bid.

At least two foreign investors are believed to be interested in a buy-out, after the Addicks hired city specialists Seymour Pierce to investigate future funding options, including a share issue.

A Nigerian businessman is said to be at an advanced stage of talks with the clubs board – and he`s already inspected The Valley and the club`s books.

There is thought to be competition for the club from another group, involving a Russian businessman, and a bid could be imminent.

A bid could be made within the next two weeks if reports are to be believed.

Charlton have not yet ruled out a sale, but the club will not comment on the reports about bids.

The Valley`s London location and the potential to develop the club further will be seen as attractive elements to potential bidders, despite the loss of revenue caused by last season`s relegation from the Premiership.

The fact the club own The Valley stadium and the training ground in Eltham, plus the they do not have any towering debts that most other clubs have, means we are a sound investment and potential buyers are queuing up.

Some fans are not happy that the well run London club could soon change hands. But if we all take a look at Man City and West Ham as examples we have to agree a takeover is our only chance of success. Chelsea anyone?
