Charlton might still be very much involved in a relegation battle to stay in the championship, however whatever league the club are in next season Johnnie Jackson will be with them.

Speculation surrounding Jackson’s future has been ended by the signing of a new two-year deal that will see the Addicks captain remaining at the Valley even if relegation back to league one is the final outcome, with the club currently bottom of the league.

Jackson was ‘really pleased’ to get his future sorted out and is already looking further ahead as ending his career with Charlton is something that appeals to him.

He told the official website: ‘I’m really pleased.

‘We’ve been talking for a while and I was desperate to get it signed and get my future secure. I’ve always said I love the club and love being captain of the club and I just always saw my future here and nowhere else.

‘So I was desperate to get it pushed over the line and I’m delighted to finally do it. It’s two more years but after that hopefully longer because I’d love to finish my career here.’
