New defender could be on the way soon

|

Skipper Jason Pearce has been linked with a move away from SE7 the past week or so with teams like Oxford United and his boyhood team Portsmouth after the 31-year-old signature, so with him looking like he may be going out the exit door, Charlton needs to find a replacement and hopefully, we may have found one.

The impressive Tom Lockyer is the man who has been linked with a move to Charlton and with the 24-year-olds contract up at the end of June he could be a steal for free. Charlton is starting to spend very tiny amounts on players, but we will mostly be seeing free transfers coming through the door this summer and business is starting to pick up.

Richard Cawley tweeted earlier today that Charlton is interested in Lockyer.

He has played 284 times for Bristol Rovers and has garnered a great reputation at The Gas and he can also push up and play in defensive midfield comfortably. This could be a very exciting signing for us as he still has his whole career ahead of him and we look to be his potential suitors amongst a host of other clubs seeking his signature.

I think Lockyer will be a fantastic signing for us the Bristol Rovers fans see losing Lockyer as a big loss to them and that speaks volumes! Hopefully, we could be looking at a proper Charlton player hard-working and passionate.
