My thoughts on Tony Watt

Is he going to go? Is he going to stay? Those are the two questions we have been asking ourselves for the past year about Tony Watt and if I`m honest I think we have a real talent on our hands if we can keep him happy or if he actually wants to be at The Valley, but with the change of personnel with the hard but fair Karl Robinson in the manager`s position who knows what this could change as Karl really wants Tony to do well because he knows how good he really can be.

It`s no doubting Tony has had some real problems as of late with his spell at Hearts proving to be a failure after only scoring once in 16 games and we all know he can do much better than that, but the only worrying thing about bringing him back is will he be able to handle this league after not proving himself in Scotland as our leagues are quite similar to each other in terms of player quality so making the decision to recall him could backfire.

Karl Robinson has given me faith that Tony Watt could become our best player with the interview that he gave the club website at the Southend game “I am going to make him cry for me” was the one line that made me think that Karl sees great things in Tony and that he really wants to work hard with him to make him become a real threat to the League One defences and I`m sure each and every one of us Charlton fans would love to see him back in top form because he has had some magnificent performances in a Charlton shirt.

Tony Watt could feature in Saturday`s derby clash against local rivals Millwall and if Robinson can get him off to a good start we could finally see us beat them for the first time in 21 years and what an atmosphere it would create if Tony was the man to grab the winner against the Lions, I sure will be there to cheer the boys on I just hope I won`t be disappointed like the last 21 years.

What are your thoughts on Tony Watt? Should he stay or should he go?
