McCarthy Earns Pardew Praise

Our last minute goalscoring hero against Leicester Patrick McCarthy has come in for much praise from Addicks boss Alan Pardew.

Patrick McCarthy, on what was a rare Addicks appearance on Saturday against the side that he joined us from in the summer stunned his former Foxes team-mates with a last minute overhead kick to earn us a point in the 1-1 draw. This goal also gained credit from Alan Pardew, who said: “It was a good time for Paddy to score his first league goal for us. But football has these strange quirks.

“To be fair he has probably been our best player. He defended well and then topped it off with a goal.

“I don’t know where he learned to do that overhead kick but I was pleased to see it nestle in the corner.”

Things haven’t been easy for Patrick McCarthy since the defender made his switch last summer but what a way to return to your former club!
