Massive Weekend

Charlton Athletic face a massive clash at the Valley on Bank Holiday Monday against Spurs, as they bid to escape the drop.

The focus for now though is on Saturday’s games when Fulham, Wigan and West Ham are all playing home matches in the Premiership.

Im not sure what the mood will be come Monday night, the place will either be booming with excitement or be as quiet as a library. It all depends on what happens with other results from Saturday.

Fulham play Liverpool at home, Wigan take on Middlesbrough at the JJB Stadium and West Ham have a home match with Bolton Wanderers.

The worst outcome would be all three winning which would leave us requiring a miracle to beat the drop.

Saturday is going to be a nail biting time for all associated with Charlton. We desperately need all the results to go our way and as it was expected we are all clutching at straws and hoping.

Should the results favour the reds then a win against Spurs in our last home match of the season could take us out of the relegation zone with it all to be decided on the last game of the season. That is something that the club would be hoping possible and I`m sure we would all take that now if we could.

Sadly we have no influence on any of Saturday`s results and we have just got to pray to the footballing Gods that lady luck will shine down on SE7.

Alan Pardew will be without Ben Thatcher for the visit of Tottenham after his crazy second yellow card against Blackburn Rovers sees him suspended.
That will mean Hreidarsson moving to left back, and Diawara could return to the side to partner Talal El Karkouri in the middle of the defence.

For one player it will be his last game for Charlton and we fans have got to give him the send off he deserves. Scott Carson, our player of the year, is not allowed to face Liverpool on the last day and he bows out on Monday night. Let`s make sure we give him a decent send off and thank him for his efforts this year. Scott has been the only good thing to come out of this torrid season.

For now we have to sit and prey and hopefully come Monday we still have a part to play in this relegation dog fight.

Keep the faith
