Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has come out to deny an interest in Addicks midfielder Darren Ambrose.

With the Tractor Boys poised for a takeover Jim Magilton will have money to spend in January as he looks to boost their promotion bid. Although some speculation has linked the club to players, including the Addicks own Darren Ambrose (who would be returning full circle to the club where it all started) who hasn’t ever quite fully delivered what he has promised, not on a regular basis anyway. When denying an interest in Darren Ambrose and another player (Richard Chaplow) Jim Magilton told the Tractor Boys’ website: “I’m sure our fans will be delighted to hear us linked with Ambrose again. I’ve always admired him as a player and had the opportunity to play with him.

“He’s had his ups and downs in his career and probably needs a stable environment but he’s very much a Charlton player.

“They’re two very good, young players who would make a difference to us but I haven’t had any contact with either of them.”

As Jim Magilton points out Darren Ambrose is still young and still has plenty to offer the Addicks, so I wouldn’t expect him to be sold to the Tractor Boys, or anyone else anytime soon.
