Lets stand with the boys at Wembley!

|

Just two days…two days until history could well and truly repeat itself as Charlton go head to head with Sunderland in the League One Playoff final at the famous Wembley Stadium. The last time these two met at Wembley was a game that will go down in history forever. Clive Mendonca was one of the many heroes on that day as he netted a hat-trick through normal time and extra-time.

The man who sent us up was none other than Sasa Ilic who saved Michael Gray’s penalty to win the game 7-6 on penalties after an epic 4-4 finale.

Now it is time to make our own history, every goal, every pass, every injury, every chant, every voice box broken has been leading up to this moment at Wembley we have to make sure the players have a great reception when they walk out on to the pitch because this season has been nothing short of a miracle if we look back to how we were at the start of the season to now, we have come a long way and winning this game will really set our standards higher if we can get in to the Championship.

This game has a lot of similarities to the 1998 final, such as we finished on the exact same points with the same number of wins draws and losses. Also, I remember seeing something on the final the other day and Alan Curbishley said that he knew if we lost that game his team would have been split up, this situation is no different. Charlton need this win on Sunday there is no question about it, we have a group of solid players some better than others and if we lose then the team will be split up.

Make sure you all stand for the entire game and sing and shout Charlton’s name, once again we stand with the boys in red and white!
