Lee Bowyer reveals a departure from the squad

Charlton manager Lee Bowyer has announced that Joe Ledley will not be offered a new deal and he will be leaving the club come January as he came in to make up the numbers after the injury-hit squad could no cope any further.

The former Palace man has apparently got something lined up in February but there’s no word on what club it is he is going to as the 32-year old will be looking to get back into first-team football.

Lee Bowyer spoke with Richard Cawley from The South London Press regarding Joe Ledley’s future and here is what he had to say

“From what I understand he [Ledley] has got something lined up for February, this was always going to be a short-term one. But he’s doing well, he’s getting fitter.

“It is obviously good to have his experience around the place as well for the young lads, we’ve got a lot of them around the place at the moment.”

His experience may have been valuable to the squad but unfortunately, he never had the chance to produce the goods that he certainly posses, but I think League One is on the horizon for Joe.

Merry Christmas Charlton fans I hope you all had a great one!
