Lee Bowyer looks ahead to huge Leeds clash as Charlton’s survival hangs in the balance

|

It all comes down to this, it’s all or nothing for Charlton right now as they prepare to face the Championship champions Leeds United where a win will guarantee safety for The Addicks.

Can you get 31/31 on this Charlton player of the year quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who won player of the year in 2020?

Former Leeds man and Charlton manager Lee Bowyer will accept nothing more than a win when we travel away tomorrow night and all the pressure is on The Addicks to bring home all three points and secure Championship football for next season.

Bowyer is certainly hoping for a happy to return to Elland Road as the champions will welcome back their former midfielder and every Charlton fan has their fingers crossed for either a Lee Bowyer masterplan or a favor from Leeds, but as we all know when we need it most a Lee Bowyer masterplan is the one that can get the right results.

The Charlton manager spoke to the club’s official website and here is what he had to say ahead of the Leeds clash

“If we had to go to Leeds, win and rely on other results, that’s a different conversation, but if we win, we’re safe. We don’t necessarily have to win, it’s the teams below us that absolutely have to win, they are the ones chasing us.

“We have a tough game, but so do the teams around us. There will be some twists and turns on the night, that will happen, we just have to stay calm and believe that what we do on the night will keep us in the division.”

Sounds like Bowyer is kind of expecting to rely on the other results, but that could just be something to relax Leeds a little bit and for Charlton to surprise them and I know that we can, just remember that we have beaten them already this season.

It’s going to be a tough game there is no doubt about that, but I am confident of us getting a result, although Leeds are at the top of their game right now and great professionals so they wont make it easy for Charlton as the newly-promoted side will be a huge threat to our defenses in tomorrows match.
