Lee Bowyer: Inspiration of the century

|

Six great games have been played by the Addicks so far, but would we be here without the inspiration that Bowyer possesses to lead his proud team out on to one of the biggest stages in football, short answer probably not.

It was revealed by Lee Bowyer what he said to his team at half-time after a first-half that Charlton needed to put behind them to ensure all three points were heading back to The Valley.

Speaking with the News Shopper the Charlton manager had this to say

“You’ve got a chance of going second, maybe top, don’t let it pass you by, leave everything out there, make the right decisions, win your individual battles and I’m sure you’ll win.

“We were taking too many touches (in the first half), passing it across the back, we were too slow. Once we picked the pace up and passed quickly like we’re good at, we carved through them, we got in and around their box so many times and we should’ve made it count, we should’ve put it to bed with half hour to go.”

Lee has managed to embed nothing but winning into this team, I know that he says he will go into every game looking to win, but now this winning feeling seems to be following us from last season.

He has managed his side to only two losses in 2019 which is some stat as he takes his win percentage up to 53.3% after 40 wins from 75 games.

Long may this continue, the club is in the best place it’s been in a long while and it is down to the work Bowyer has produced so far as manager, he has given our belief back and our passion for Charlton is just like how it was in the Premier League days.

I know there are still people boycotting, but stop it now and come down The Valley and show your support because let me tell you know if you come back down and sing your hearts out like the rest of us there is no telling us where we could go from there.

I believe, the fans who go down to The Valley believe and if you don’t go down our famous ground anymore you should too get yourself down there and believe in the team we have, trust me we are going on a journey.

      Hi John

What comments were not posted? I’ve seen a few from you on here and so far to me everything looks like it’s gone through.

I am not part of Charlton, however they do give me exclusive access to press conferences and all that kind of thing.

      Cheers
      Kieran
