Lee Bowyer gives his view on Addicks defender as he searches for game time after injury hell

|

One name we haven’t seen on the team sheet for an extremely long time is none other than left-back Lewis Page and with his injury concerns still causing problems for him in the post-lockdown season one has to beg the question, will he have enough time to earn a new contract?

Can you get 25/25 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

I think his time is up in SE7 if I’m being totally honest, I know he is a good player and would love to see him playing the game again but it’s just going to be too little too late for Pagey and that is a real shame as none of this is his fault.

Maybe the intensity of the Championship is too much for his body, some people do break down when it comes to fitness and unfortunately, the former West Ham man seems to be one of them.

Lee Bowyer spoke to Richard Cawley from The South London Press and here is what he had to say

“Pagey gives us something different down that left side and is a good option, then he picks up a groin strain. I’m gutted for him.

“The most important thing for Lewis is that he gets back and has a good end to the season – that will open up a lot of different doors.

“The most important thing for him and for us is that he’s available for the last few games.”

Page has not featured for Charlton since the 5-3 defeat to Scunthorpe United back in October 2018 where he was taken off after five minutes but he had played in every game before that.

Since then he has had numerous setbacks with injuries.

I can’t see many teams being keen on Page if the injuries continue, but if he can get a few games in at the end that would be amazing because he is a very good player, but the injuries are just holding back his quality.
