An injury-time equaliser from Harry Lennon, who had been out on loan until recently, earned Charlton a point after Bristol City had gone ahead at the end of the first half through Nathan Baker and missed a penalty when Marlon Pack smashed his spot kick against the crossbar with the Addicks second-bottom.

With leaders Middlesbrough seeing their game at Blackburn postponed this opened the door to Derby, who in winning two-nil against Fulham moved to the top of the Championship table.

Bolton’s troubles continued with them hammered by fellow strugglers Rotherham (who made it back-to-back wins) four-nil with Cardiff losing more ground on the play-off places with a defeat at MK Dons, who eased their troubles slightly as the year moves closer to an end.
