Charlton leapfrogged Colchester into third place at Roots Hall last night. The visitors missed a host of chances before turning things round in the last quarter of an hour.

The dismissal of Southend’s Jean-Francois Christophe after 25 minutes and Kyel Reid’s introduction just past the hour mark were the game’s decisive moments.

The ten man Shrimpers took the lead after 31 minutes when Rob Elliot allowed a soft shot to slip under him.

Reid went close himself before teeing up Akpo Sodje to level after 74 minutes. Reid sealed victory in injury time when he was played in by Llera to fire across Mildenhall and into the far corner.

A much needed win but we can’t afford it to be one win followed by a defeat again. How many times is that we’ve scored in injury time though in recent games? Three out of the last four played we’ve score equalisers, consolations or winners!

I’ve got to agree with you Addickt, we’ve got to build on this now and not cock it up in our next match.
