Jonny Williams on his injury and contract talks

|

One man who has been impressing on the ball is none other than former Palace man Jonny Williams. Jonny joined us in January on a free from Palace and signed a six-month deal and he is apparently ‘open’ to talks on a new contract. This is great news as he has been performing well and he likes to bring the ball forward which is something we have been crying out for.

Jonny spoke with the News Shopper about his contract and his injury, he had this to say

“I’m really enjoying it here, I’m open to whatever. You obviously want to play as high as you can, I’ve enjoyed my time here.

“The boys are great, and it’s a Championship quality squad we’ve got here that is playing in League One. I felt a little tweak in my hamstring. I know my own body and I don’t want to make it worse.

I can’t say how long it’ll be, but Tuesday is probably too soon and knowing how my body is, I’ll have to be careful.”

Since Williams made the switch from the south-east London rivals, he has made an impression on the fans and we welcomed him with open arms despite his connection with Palace and he has really taken to The Valley faithful. He is a great character and a great footballer and the more game time he gets, the better. However, he has just picked up this Hamstring injury and it would be best to keep him out of the next couple games at least to let his injury heal as he has a horrible history with injuries.

Let’s hope we can convince him to stay at The Valley weather we go up or not this season because no matter where we go we will need him next season.
