Johnnie Jackson was recently being linked with a move into management for the first time with him reportedly the one Charlton could turn to?

Former Sheffield United boss Nigel Adkins had been mentioned, but this is seemingly unlikely now with Keith Hill’s ‘terms’ not met by Roland Duchatelet so he was the latest to offer (basically) a thanks but no thanks after Chris Wilder, who ended up with the Blades.

Russell Slade has become a strong name linked with Charlton recently but the former Cardiff boss is reportedly interesting Blackburn too.

Does this mean it could be Jackson that steps up?

A lack of experience would clearly count again Jackson but the Charlton captain doesn’t lack passion for the club at all does he so would get the backing of the fans – he clearly would need some experienced help (and also not have what he does dictated to him from those above) for this to work with the Addicks.

We’ll see what actually does come of this….
