Charlton have completed a third signing in as many days with Johnnie Jackson returning to The Valley, where he had a loan spell last season.

Jackson has joined Charlton on a free transfer after Notts County agreed to release him from his contract early and he’ll add extra competition in the left back, left midfield and central midfield places.

Phil Parkinson told The Official Website: “I’m delighted to complete the signing of Johnnie.

“Our supporters will have seen him briefly last season when he played well for us on loan, and his versatility – his ability to play left-back, left midfield or centre midfield – will be very important to us going forward.”

I’d prefer to see Jackson as a central midfielder this season as I believe that this is the 27-year-olds best position, however his versatility gives us plenty of options on how to utilise his quality.

Jackson looks ready to feature against AFC Wimbledon on Saturday.

Welcome back Johnnie you’ve got some big boots to fill if you’re Nicky’s replacement though.

This wasn’t a move that I saw coming, I was pleasantly surprised though.
