Charlton survived an FA cup scare on Tuesday, when that third round tie with Oxford was finally played after two postponements as they came back from two-nil down to draw 2-2.

Oxford were well on their way to a place in round four by the midway point of the first half, and with the Addicks two-down at the break the fans made it perfectly clear that they weren’t happy with what they saw.

Chris Powell wasn’t either, and wasn’t prepared to take the state of the Valley pitch as a reason for this as Oxford had to play on it too didn’t they!

Powell said: ‘That first half was easily worst 45 minutes since I’ve been manager here.

‘I told them I don’t ever want to see that again from them. It was unacceptable.

‘Forget the pitch, it was a side that didn’t play to our standards and didn’t compete.

‘The crowd showed their displeasure at half-time which is absolutely correct and we turned it around and nearly won it at the end.’

Johnny Mullins and Scott Davies had Oxford two-nil up in 24-minutes but an early goal in the second half from Michael Morrison got Charlton back into the game before Yann Kermorgant secured a replay at the Kassam Stadium 10-minutes from time.
