Academy product Jordan Cousins made quite an impact on his Charlton league debut at the weekend in the draw with Barnsley.

Sent on with the Addicks two-nil down he got the club back into the game, scoring just 19-minutes after his arrival in a game that ended 2-2 in the end…

Chris Powell clearly showed faith in him by giving him a chance, and Cousins repaid this faith indeed!

Powell told BBC Sport: ‘Jordan took his goal well, and at that stage of the game it was the luck we needed.

‘I’ve put a lot of faith in him, he’s shown me he can handle this company and the step up. He’s a player with a lot of promise, he’s adaptable so I put trust in him and he helped solidify the midfield.’

The stuff league debuts are made of really isn’t it!

Expectancy levels need to remain in check but the early indication is that Cousins could become the latest in a string of youngsters that have come through the Addicks academy…
