Hope In Some Areas And Dismay In The Others

|

Charlton took a surprising loss on Saturday against Coventry City in which saw City take the lead within the final ten minutes of the game after The Addicks were 1-0 up for almost 40 minutes. So what does this mean going in to the international break? Well for one the players are finally getting that well deserved rest, Lewis Page could be back just after the international break, but I’m not holding my breath.

We can take a lot out of this period, however there is also a lot we need to learn too.

The amount of goals we conceded could have been a lot smaller, but the defence is very weak as shown in the 5-3 defeat to Scunthorpe and then the final minutes of Saturdays game against the Sky Blues. The back line just fell apart once again, something all of us Charlton fans were fearing to happen and when it did happen our depression sunk in once again.

Although things seem like they might be falling apart right now, this period brought a lot of good times and a lot of hope as we look to the rest of the season. Lyle Taylor really is a shining star up in the attack, in the last game he performed brilliantly his first touch on the ball was perfect every time, unfortunately, he was not getting as much help as he could have.

We need to sharpen up at the back and right now Sarr is just not cutting it and neither is Dijksteel, I just wish that these two were the right fit as I feel they can become good players, I have that faith for them.

With the midfield they have had a good time in the last 8 games or so with Ben Reeves being the stand out performer in that line. He has been strong on the ball and he can always find himself in a good position and finally we can see why Karl Robinson signed him all that time ago.

Moving on to what we need to do next to improve this team I would say start on the free agents list, we need something at the back and fast, we need a left-back and a centre-back because what we have now is a very open defence they just can’t seem to play with each other. James Collins is a good option, yes he’s 35 but he can defiantly do well in this league with his quality and it is something we desperately need.
