Charlton Athletic are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Ricky Holmes in the four one victory over Northampton Town at the weekend at The Valley was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Holmes was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Holmes produced a dazzling display to help Charlton cruise to victory over Northampton Town, the club where the winger formerly plied his trade. It took him less than two minutes to produce the cross for Josh Magennis` opener, and he grabbed a fine goal of his own during the 4-1 win. An honourary mention for Jake Forster-Caskey, who struck twice for the Addicks, but narrowly missed out this week.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Holmes for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.
