Matt Holland made his Addicks return in Monday nights reserve clash with London rival Crystal Palace.

The match, which was drawn 0-0 saw the former skipper make his long awaited return from injury, having suffered a knee injury in pre-season, which required surgery then he picked up a calf problem in training.

Having come through 68 minutes the midfielder will hope to now push on from what has been an injury ravaged season for him thus far, with him restricted to just two appearances, a start in the Carling Cup defeat to Luton, then a substitute appearance against Coventry four days later.

I’ve always been a big fan of Matt Holland’s, so to have him back in contention (nearly) pleases me. He also has that quality and experience that we will need to get us through the season.
