High Praise for Sublime Addicks

The Addicks finally turned around their recent poor form at the Valley with a fine 3-1 win over Ipswich on Saturday, and this pleased Alan Pardew.

Three first half goals from Darren Ambrose (who scored two) and Chris Iwelumo saw the Addicks home and dry by half time and Alan Pardew could not praise this first half showing enough: “In the first half we were sublime. It’s nice to be able to show the fans what we can do,” Alan Pardew said after the game.

“It’s very important to get your home form going if you are going to win promotion. We changed it around a bit and didn’t give Ipswich a sniff.

“The second half was strange, they had used all their subs and had offensive players on the pitch, and we should have dealt with it better.

“But I can’t take anything away from a great win.”

Maybe the second half was not as impressive from an Addicks point of view by a long shot, and the tractor boys could have got into the match more with a little more fortune but the damage was done in the first half and this should see a change in fortunes for the Addicks now at the Valley.

The first half was brilliant from the Addicks, the damage was well and truly done then, and hopefully this can see the kind of form we are seeing away from the Valley now return to it!
