Charlton have boosted their survival hopes with an upturn in fortunes after picking up seven points from our last three games.

The Addicks face Wigan this weekend in a crucial relegation battle and Hreidarsson has warned all their rivals at the bottom of the table that the Addicks are on the up.

‘Let’s see how the teams around us cope with the pressure of the relegation battle,’ Hreidarsson told the Mirror.

‘Just before Christmas we looked dead and buried and the fans turned against us. But the manager, players and fans are all together now and we feel we can escape relegation.

‘In many ways, the whole situation has turned around. The pressure is on the other teams now, and that can affect players.

‘Under the new manager, we’ve reacted positively, given ourselves a chance and are playing with confidence. We go into games feeling we can get results and think our fate is in our own hands now.

‘We’ve Wigan at home, Man City away and then Reading at home – massive games for us.

‘If we get the results in those games, and the home game with Sheffield United, we’ll have a great chance of escaping relegation.

‘If we don’t perform and don’t get results in those fixtures, we deserve to go down. It’s as simple as that.’
