Hermann Joins Portsmouth

The Iceland international was not out of contract, but a clause within his Addicks deal entitles him to leave in the event of the club being relegated from the top flight.

The defender, who turns 33 next month, has signed a two-year contract on the south coast having made 147 league and cup appearances for Charlton following his purchase from Ipswich Town in March 2003.

HH has been a trusty defender for the reds and he always had bottle when wearing our shirt. I`m surprised Portsmouth have gone for him though, as he has clearly slowed up after the last two seasons and he doesn’t really look like a top ten team`s defender. He loves to hoof the ball up the park and only has one foot, his disciplinary record is also shocking and he does like a spell being suspended.

But take nothing away from him he has put in decent enough service for us and so good luck Hermann and thanks.

Good Luck Hermann- i think players like HH need to move i would class him as dead wood and we have plenty of that to shift this summer.

No real loss here, shame he went for zilch but he is not the player he used to be. Why is it foreign players slow up more as they get older than englishmen?
