“He has done well, so we’ll reward him with a new deal” – Bowyer on youngster

|

Anfernee Dijksteel was one man who was a real contender for Young Player of The Season, but it was eventually claimed by George Lapslie. Anfernee has had a bit of a mixed bag in terms of performances, some are great and some can be a bit sub-par, but he has managed to maintain a consistent amount of swapping with Solly throughout the season amassing 36 appearances in all competitions this campaign which is a big step up from the 19 games he appeared in last season.

With another year on his contract to go Dijksteel looks like he has bags of potential and could be attracting some attention in the summer from a host of Championship clubs if we were to fail in our promotion bid as he is one for the future.

Speaking with The South London Press Lee Bowyer had this to say about Dijksteel’s new contract

“He hasn’t signed yet. I thought it would be done by now if I’m honest. But that’s something we will pick up after the end of the season. He’s still got a year left. We just thought he had done well, so we’ll reward him with a new deal.”

Who knows what the holdup is, maybe it could be wages or maybe it could even be Roland not giving him what he wants, who knows? I’m just happy that Bowyer sees that Anfernee has been doing well and he feels like he could be a valuable part of the team within the next year as right now he may not be as good as Chris Solly, but as I said he has bags of potential so let’s see how he builds on a successful season.
