From the Canaries Viewpoint

My counterpart at Vital Norwich had challenged me to answer a few questions, which I have, so go to Vital Norwich to see the answers, which should be added soon, if they have not already.

I agreed to answer his questions, and in return I turned the tables on him and reversed his questions to get his answers, so here they are.

What are you expectations for the season?
‘Mid-table, but an improvement on our poor 16th last year. Our parachute days were fritted away and now, being back to square one, we have an ambitious manager and a decent squad, but to break the top six will be a very big ask.’

How do you see Norwich’s start to the season?
‘We are yet to play well, apart from 30 minutes against Southampton. So I guess seven points isn’t bad. Yet most of the opposition have been poor too. Once we get to play some of the more fancied sides – starting with yourselves – we’ll see if we have another gear. Saturday’s win against Palace was vital, even at this early stage.’

What do you expect from Charlton this season?
‘Alan Pardew had a good enough record to have kept you up had he had the entire season. You’ve also bought and sold well (£16.5m for Darren Bent?!) so it should be the playoffs at least. But I guess it’s never as easy as that and this league is especially hard to predict.’

Which Addick will you be wary of tomorrow night?
‘Luke Varney would’ve been the one. I know he’s recovered from his injury so I guess he might make the bench. If not, Todorov has always scored goals at this level, and he’ll definitely be one for us to watch.’

Which Canary should Addicks fan’s be looking out for?
‘I’m hoping David Strihavka will make his first start for us on Tuesday. We bought him during the summer after he topped the Czech League scorer standings and he bagged his first competitive goal for us on Saturday in our 1-0 win at home to Palace. He can now speak the odd word in English, and will cause much more of a goal threat than Chris Brown (who’ll probably end up starting the match)`

Give us your prediction:
‘From the heart, I think we could nick it and are certainly capable of drawing. Yet, away from home, we’ve been awful for around 9 years and will probably get turned over 4-0 again. Heart it is then – 1-1.’

Thank-you to Michael Bailey, the editor of Vital Charlton.

I don’t know anything about this David Strihavka bloke, but from the sounds of thing he could be quite impressive.

Hey that’s pretty cool!!!! Interesting read! We are gonna win, we are gonna win! 🙂

It really is a good read isn’t it, I will hope to maybe do more things like this with other editors before matches if I can.

We also plan to do a bit of a post match chat as well.

Good to get the banter going before a game. I’ll be at the Valley tonight – my last time was a few years back when we were 4-2 up with minutes to go, before you scored two late goals and we drew 4-4! It sill hurts too. Should be a good game tonight. I’m looking forward to it.

  • Charlton Addickt says:

It certainly is, its always good so long as it doesn’t get out of control, which it shouldn’t really should it? Yes it should be a good game, may the best team win, but with respect to the Canaries the Addicks need to be winning matches like this at the Valley.

I expect you to win, you’re a better side at home than you are away. but then again Colchester make alot of sides look poor at “Layer Drome”!!!!

  • Charlton Addickt says:

The U’s are brilliant at Layer Road, almost unbeatable.
