It is only a few days until the Championship season gets back into full swing, and the Addicks face the tough task of a trip to Layer Road to face Colchester.

The international break saw a break to the Championship calendar, which possibly came at the wrong time for the Addicks as they had just won three matches on the spin, two in the league and one in the cup, but what can you do eh!

The Addicks are off to Layer Road this weekend and a meeting with the U’s, last seasons surprise package in this division, so it will not be easy in the slightest but the Addicks would be favourites to continue their unbeaten run even with the formidable home record the U’s have.

Chris Iwelumo, who joined the Addicks in the summer from the U’s will be returning to Layer Raod, which is now the home of former Addicks striker Kevin Lisbie, and both players will be wanting to pull one over their previous employers, this matter is the subject of the current Vital Charlton poll, so make sure you have your vote.

It will be good to get back to business won’t it. The trip to the U’s will be a very tough trip, but momentum is with the Addicks so you would have to favour them, although a draw wouldn’t be bad.

Without doubt, I’m a very proud Englishman but I would take my club winning over country anytime.
