The 18th minute sending off of Daniel Nardiello was the pivotal moment in the match. Justifiably aggrieved that his effort was deemed not to have crossed the line, his follow up berating of the linesman at a break in play was truculent and unprofessional.

Tisdale’s already depleted team were then faced with the proverbial mountain to climb but stuck to their task manfully.

It took some quick thinking by Bradley Wright-Phillips, who exchanged passes with Paul Hayes, to give Charlton the breakthrough just before the break. Dale Stephens added the second late on to take the Addicks back to second in the table.
