Every Charlton fan needs to read this #believe

We are just a few days away from the opening game of the season at Blackburn Rovers and whilst our squad is looking fairly tight to say the least I am still holding my optimistic stance on the season ahead. Also, on Twitter CAFC Facts & Stats have promised to donate £100 to the CAFCTrust if we finish in the top half of the table, something I have also promised to match.

After Saturday’s 4-1 loss against Aston Villa one thing was apparent in the game and that was that we needed to strengthen the midfield. I know it’s only a friendly and the players won’t be putting in 110% but most of them looked weak against a strong Villa side. We won’t be playing teams like that week in week out, but I felt that there could have been a lot more from our midfield which begs the question, will we get anyone in before the first game of the season? Probably not.

In my opinion I don’t think any more permanents are coming in, I think Deji Oshilaja was the last of them, I would say just expect loans to come in, however, things can quickly change in that department and hopefully, they do.

Because of the situation we currently find ourselves in people seem to be thinking the worst, I hear many people saying relegation is on the way but speaking about things like that is not going to help the fans, it’s not going to help the morale and it certainly won’t help the club as a whole.

The reason we got as far as we did last season is because we believed in our team we believed in ourselves to turn up to the games and cheer on our beloved Charlton Athletic even though our deluded owner is trying to kill the club. We fought through that and we got what we wanted, promotion and an amazing couple days at The Valley and Wembley to top it off. Memories that will stay with us forever.

Those memories are not over mark my words, I said a 9th placed finish and I really believe this team can do that. Sure we do need a few extra players but we needed the same thing at this stage last season. Just believe again we believed last season so why not do it now that we are a division higher than last year, it makes no sense that so many fans are already writing this season off we should be happy we are where we are now because last season could have been a whole lot different.

Lee Bowyer wants us to believe, the players want us to believe so let’s believe together as fans. Let’s go to every single game we possibly can home and away let’s make more noise than what we did last season because we know the team thrives off of that so I’m urging you all please get down to the games and sing your hearts out, there is no excuse to be sitting there not making the noise for the boys. They deserve our support so let’s give it to them!

Nowhere near strong enough up front mid field or at the back and on our budget can’t see us getting any player that’s going to change much its going to be a long tough season but I know the lads will give it their best come on you reds

I have just been to Dublin and was speaking to a scout – great guy – who gave me a tip for Charlton. A Player called Jack Bryne who is currently playing for Shamrock Rovers. He has played in England and had a bit of rocky time- but now settled down. Started with Man City and let go – then see the fans views (Oldham and Kilmarnock) and some of the goals he has scored. Might be worth trying to persuade him to come back to England.
