Eggert on baldys face

Charlton boss Alan Pardew is refusing to get involved in a war of words with West Ham chairman Eggert Magnusson.


Magnusson stoked the fires ahead of this weekend’s game between the two sides by hitting out at Pardew’s reign at Upton Park.

The Icelandic businessman sacked Pardew in December just shortly after he took control at West Ham.

Magnusson claimed Pardew had lost the support of the West Ham players and had no choice but to replace him with Alan Curbishley.

Pardew insists he has no problem with Magnusson and is only concentrating on trying to win the relegation battle on Saturday.

‘If I were to bump into Mr Magnusson I’d be courteous. That’s not to say I agree with his decision,’ Pardew said.

‘I didn’t then and I never will. But I have no axe to grind.’

Pardew insists he will have no mixed feelings going into the game against his old club as he looks to steer Charlton clear of trouble.

‘They are a great club with great fans but the bottom line is I’m paid to be the manager of Charlton and I’ll do everything I can to get the win that takes us above West Ham.

‘I’ll try and take the emotion out of it. I do feel I’ve something to prove, but only to myself.’

The pressure is starting to bubble and come tomorrow im sure Pardew will be as fired up as the fans.




Pardew has a big point to prove and if he can get one over on the man who sacked him im sure he will be pleased with his days work.
