EFL set to suspend The Football League due to Cornovirus outbreak

|

As the deadly virus starts to affect just about everything that is happening in the world right now, The EFL has called an emergency meeting this morning to discuss the possibility of suspending the weekend’s fixtures and beyond.

Who is this?

According to Simon Hughes from The Athletic, The EFL will suspend all games, but it’s not clear whether he means all of the weekend’s fixtures or the rest of the season, which could mean that Charlton will not go down despite sitting in the relegation zone as we speak.

Those details have yet to be confirmed by The EFL, but rumours have been flying around that no teams will go up or go down if the season gets voided, which is great news for Charlton if the season does end now, however, the sad thing is football will come to a very early conclusion.

There is obviously something more serious going on in the background with COVID-19 and it might be in the best interests of safety to keep people from going to all these big events where thousands of people turn up.

We should hear an update from The English Football League later on today and I will update you further once I hear more.
