It’s being reported that Charlton Athletic are close to the capture of Swindon Town striker Nicky Ajose.

The BBC are reporting that a fee of around £800,000 has been agreed between the two clubs, and the former Manchester United trainee was their leading goal scorer last season with 25 across all competitions.

With Swindon confirming a while back that they had rejected an offer of around the £500,000 mark, £800,000 as a suggestion seems the right sort of deal possibly.

The 24 year old boasts over 150 games to his name, and has gained plenty of experience during loan spells out and about so far, but his goalscoring tally stands at 71 so far, so clearly the lad has an eye for goal – and many in passing would’ve noticed him last season – I did.

With Northampton’s Ricky Holmes already in, Ajose could be the perfect foil for his trickier on the wing, and with speculation still linking us to Lee Novak as well there might be a quiet confidence building under manager Russell Slade now.
