Addicks midfielder Darren Ambrose says he’s glad he made the decision to stay at the Valley following last season’s relegation in his new www.icons.com diary.
‘I`m enjoying my football. The gaffer has used me in the centre of midfield this season and I`m feeling very good playing there. I`ve had several 90 minute run-outs and feel very much part of the team. My form`s been decent, so I just hope I can maintain it, and retain my position in the side for the whole season.
‘I`m definitely glad that I stayed at Charlton this summer. Like everyone else I want to play at the highest level, but I was more than happy to carry on here at the Valley and achieve that with this club. I`m really happy here.
Ambrose also looks back at Charlton’s opening games and outlines his hopes for the rest of the season:
‘The 1-0 win at Crystal Palace was a quality result. It was mentioned in the build-up to the game that the rivalry with Palace is important to the fans and to the chairman, so all the boys knew what was expected, and I thought we delivered a really solid performance in what was a very difficult match. Not many away teams will take three points from Palace this year.
‘It`s been an exciting start to the season for our fans, what with a 4-3 classic versus Stockport, and a late comeback to beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-2 at home. In those games we were annoyed to concede the goals, but the team showed brilliant bottle to turn around two tricky situations. ‘

Another player that needs a good season. Hes gone a bit stale recently and has a lot to prove. So far hes doing that!
Yes he had so much promise as a kid, not that he is old now, but he needs to start living up to the promise again more, which he seems to be.
