Could This Man Be Our New Striker?

|

Another striker has been linked with Charlton this morning as a journalist from Bristol Live Tweeted about the 29-year-old, but is he actually good enough for us? The answer to that is most likely a no unfortunately and I will explain why.

Matty has a lot of good things about him, although goal scoring does not seem to be one of them – looking from what Bristol City fans are saying about him he has a good work-rate and his link-up play is very good, however he suffers from a lack of pace and struggles to score over 4 goals a season at this level, in fact that is the most he has scored throughout the last three seasons.

I don’t think this is the type of player we need right now, we have got two big boys to go up front who don’t have that much pace to them in Macauley Bonne and Chuks Aneke (although Bonne is quicker). We have Lyle Taylor who can set-up and score goals, but I think now we need a speedster in the striker role to further our options of what we can do upfront. It will also help Lyle to successfully hold-up play if we had someone fast to overtake the defenders.

Where a few Bristol fans have mentioned that he’s not much of a runner that’s what has put me off of him, but if we get him only time will tell how good he really is as I think he just needs a good run out, but even then he still might not be good enough. Bowyer has worked his magic on a certain few players and if Matty does join the ranks do you think he will be one of the ones who emerge victorious at Charlton? Bristol city’s fans turn on players like the tide, give Taylor a proper run and he’ll bag you proper goals.
