Charlton Star On His Future

|

Our defense has been pretty solid this season, conceding 38 goals through 42 games, it could be better, but it could be a hell of a lot worse. No one was expecting Naby Sarr to be the star he has been this term and he is being picked ahead of our captain Jason Pearce, it just shows how good he has been.

But there is one rock at the back that may not be here next season and it is the BFG Patrick Bauer who has also been exceptional this season. Unfortunately, he is one of the long list of players who are out of contract in the summer and there has been a lot of speculation of where the BFG could be come next season. It’s obvious he wants to play at a higher level than League One and he is more than capable of pulling off a decent season in the Championship, but if we are still in League One next season we could be saying goodbye to Bauer as we will with a few other players.

Patrick Bauer spoke with the News Shopper about his future and here is what he had to say

“I want to play at the highest possible level, just like every player, and I know the club wants to be playing as high as possible, at least in the Championship which is where we are all trying to get to. My focus now is just on getting Charlton promoted. When we are promoted, we’ll sit at a table and then we will speak about my future.”

He is saying what every other player has said when questioned of their future at The Valley ‘my focus is on getting Charlton promoted’ I love that. The entire team is concentrated on getting us back into the Championship and if we do get promoted we have all of these great players to thank as well as Bowyer for cementing the motivation into their heads.

Next up we got Oxford United and that could be the toughest game out of the next four, but this will also be the game that will confirm our place in the playoffs, so after this, a lot of pressure is off.
