It’s not really that much of a surprise but Charlton have snapped up Mark Gower on a permanent basis.

Gower enjoyed a successful end of season loan from Swansea at The Valley, and with his contract mutually terminated last month the 34-year-old became a free agent.

Chris Powell, as he told the official website, is more than happy to have snapped him up permanently on a one-year deal. He said: ‘Mark made a real impact in the final few games whilst on loan.

‘He’s a player I have had my eye on for a while. He offers good experience, is a good user of the ball and adds to the competition for places in midfield.’

The midfielder will add extra strength, and definite experience, to The Addicks midfield next season.
