Singing in the rain and saved by the bell are well known phrases, Charlton were probably happy to combine a bit of the two this afternoon to be saved by the rain!

At 3-1 down (even against 10-men) at the break Charlton looked set for another Valley defeat but they were spared this when Lee Collins abandoned the match at half time…

Brown’s double another from Keegan had Doncaster 3-0 up after just 23-minutes, then came the first disruption to the game.

26-minutes in and then Collins suspended the game.

Charlton groundstaff, and even Doncaster players, helped clear the pitch of surface water and play resumed with Church pulling a goal back for the Addicks with Doncaster then reduced to 10-men with Keegan shown a second yellow just before the interval.

During this break Collins decided that the pitch was unplayable and the teams didn’t emerge for the second half, Charlton will feel relief whereas Doncaster will feel robbed!

All that were in attendance will feel some form of an injustice but the decision is final and the game will have to be replayed later in the season…
