Charlton raise interest in 28-year old striker who has the eye for goal in League One

|

The strikers we have at the club right now are similar in some ways, particularly the lack of speed from both Chuks Aneke and Macauley Bonne needs to be addressed and we may have found our man as former Peterborough United striker Conor Washington is attracting interest from Lee Bowyer and Steve Gallen as he will add a sliver of pace upfront.

When Washington was at Peterborough in League One 4 years ago, he managed to net 27 goals in 82 appearances over three seasons, so he can do well in League One and could serve to be a decent bit of competition for our present strikers.

The 28-year old is currently at Scottish side Hearts where he has not exactly hit the heights with three goals in fifteen appearances, which means one could argue that he might not be good enough for a promotion push out of the third tier.

If that wasn’t enough to put you off of him he managed to score just 14 goals in 98 games for Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, unless Bowyer has a good plan for him the fans will probably be skeptical about him, but some people can surprise you.

I don’t think his goal scoring record has many of us feeling excited, however he does have a decent record in League One.

At least things are moving in the right direction at Charlton for now, but don’t let things like this smokescreen what is really going on.
