Charlton man not using January as an excuse for Charlton falling into the relegation zone

|

Darren Pratley is the inspiration in this Charlton team, he works incredibly hard in every single game even if he is hurting, which he did in our 1-0 loss to relegation rivals Middlesbrough.

Can you get 25/25 on this former Charlton players quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who is this?

The 34-year old is not letting the underwhelming transfer window get to him and the team, as he says there are no excuses in this season as we fight to stay in The Championship.

The January window did not make things easier for us, we still have a thin squad with less quality than what we had before, and with three signings coming in on deadline day it certainly seems like those signings were in fact panic buys as we have not seen any of Matt Smith expect for two substitute appearances, so he can’t be that good.

Prats spoke with Richard Cawley from The South London Press and here is what he had to say about the January transfer window

“December and January were tough months for us when we had about 12 players out. We really needed help at that time – bodies in – that we didn’t manage to get.

“But that’s not an excuse. It’s a 46-game season, if we remain in this league with the budget we’ve got it will be a massive coup for us.”

Roland’s budget seems to still be living on in this season as we brought four new loan signings Andre Green, Aiden McGeady, Matt Smith and David Davis, however we also lost Jonathan Leko, Beram Kayal and the big one Conor Gallagher.

There shouldn’t be any excuses as to why we are playing so bad but when you look at what happened in January we didn’t strengthen we actually weakened in terms of the players we brought in and to become more weak at this part of the season is something no one wants with a relegation battle still to come.

This team needs to gel again and fast let’s hope big Prats can save the mood in the dressing room!
