Charlton man gives his thoughts on the relegation battle The Addicks face

|

The Championship is proving to be a very difficult league this season as we sit 20th in the table with just one point separating us from the relegation zone as we face Middlesbrough this weekend. It’s a huge match in which could dictate who stays up or who goes down.

Can you name every league position Charlton has finished in within the last 20 years? I bet you can’t but feel free to prove me wrong!

Where did Charlton finish in the 2019/20 season?

George Lapslie has given us an insight into his thoughts about the relegation battle The Addicks face in the next 10 games and he believes there is more pressure now than when there was trying to get promoted last season.

I can understand that because if you don’t go up that particular season you can still try again next year, although in our case if we didn’t go up last season who knows where we would be right now. However, if you get relegated you got to go through at least another season to get back into that position again.

Lapo spoke with Richard Cawley from The South London Press and here is what he had to say

“These are the big-stakes games, we were having a discussion about whether there is more pressure now, trying to stay up, or trying to get up last season. I definitely feel there is a bit more in this scenario but you have got to relish it.

“You also need to try not to think too much, because if you start thinking about that then you are not focusing on what you’ve got to do on the pitch.

I would like to see Lapslie step up for the rest of the season as we saw a glimpse of what he can do in the Luton game where he came on and changed the match in our favor as we ran out 3-1 winners and he even grabbed himself a goal in the process.

If he can do what he did in that game for the rest of the season I think we will be alright it’s like he had a real influence on the players when he came on the pitch and at this crunch time of the season we need someone like that to step up to the plate and I believe he can do that.
