Charlton lose out on 11-goal Irishman as he opts for The Championship

|

Transfers are certainly not going to be on Charlton’s side this summer as The Addicks will expect a shortage on budget and EFL approvals after being place under a transfer embargo by the governing body of the football league.

Can you get 32/32 on this Charlton player of the year quiz? I bet you can’t, but feel free to prove me wrong!

Who won player of the year in 2020?

However, it is now our league position that has attracted a player elsewhere as Charlton were trying to strike a deal for Doncaster Rovers winger Kieran Sadlier who scored 11 goals in League One last season whilst providing 6 assists over 33 appearances.

The Irishman instead opted to go for the Championship with newly-promoted Rotherham United, which is very disappointing as I still don’t think fans are used to missing out on players of that calibre to teams like Rotherham.

The hards times for Charlton are not over yet, but with the ownership troubles working towards its end slowly but surely, hopefully, the transfer embargo will be lifted and Charlton will have new and ambitious owners.

The embargo Charlton are currently working under restricts The Addicks to only offer wages of £1.3k a week which will be a problem as they are more or less League Two wages, those is the sort of restriction we are working with right now.

Once the problems have been ironed out with new owners and The EFL hopefully then we can get everything sorted and go back to becoming a normal club again like we were 8 years ago.
